SMS Messaging & Consent

Overview

RouteRooster sends automated appointment-related text messages on behalf of mobile service businesses (for example, mobile detailers and dog groomers) to their customers who have opted in. Messages include booking confirmations, reminders, day-of notifications, and occasional rebook reminders with a link to schedule again.

Opt-in method 1 — Public online booking (primary)

Customers opt in when booking online at a business's public booking page: /book/{business-slug}.

  1. Customer selects a service.
  2. Customer enters their service address or zip code.
  3. Customer picks an available appointment time.
  4. On the final "Details" step, the customer enters their name and mobile phone number.
  5. The customer sees an optional SMS consent checkbox that is unchecked by default. Consent is not required to complete the booking.
  6. To opt in, the customer must actively check the box and click "Confirm booking." If the box is left unchecked, the appointment is still booked but no SMS is sent.

Opt-in method 2 — Operator-recorded consent (secondary)

A business operator may record SMS consent when adding or editing a client in the RouteRooster dashboard. This is only for clients who have already given consent verbally or in writing outside the booking flow. The operator checks the consent box only after obtaining that consent. The dashboard requires login and is not publicly accessible.

Message types and frequency

Opted-in customers may receive:

  • Booking confirmation after an online reservation
  • 24-hour appointment reminder (reply to confirm)
  • Day-of "on my way" notification
  • Occasional rebook reminder with a link to schedule again, sent weeks after a completed job

Message frequency varies based on appointments. Typical volume is 2–4 messages per appointment, plus an optional rebook message. Message and data rates may apply.

Opt-out and help

  • Reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, or other standard opt-out keywords to unsubscribe at any time.
  • Reply START or UNSTOP to re-subscribe after opting out.
  • Reply HELP or INFO for assistance.
